We're Still Alive

September 21st - 28th
Yep, we're still alive and kicking. Actually, it's been a very good week and I've realized that I can do this (though not without my exceedingly wonderful husband who has really been going the extra mile this week). We're both pretty tired, Damon makes weird noises when he sleeps; we'll only have him in our room for another week though. We decided to switch around the boys' room a little bit and put the crib closer to the door, so we had to move the beds and I think Logan will need a little bit of adjustment time and it will give Damon another week to sleep longer at night.
Both our boys have been so wonderful. Logan has been the ideal big brother and Damon is pretty content with all the noise going on around him. We even attempted our first grocery shopping trip alone while Morgan was getting some studying done. It actually went very well, although I was exhausted by the time I got home and was so glad Morgan hadn't gone up to the school yet so he could bring in the groceries. :)
It was a good transition week because Morgan had a little bit more of a flexible schedule and was able to help at night with Logan and put Logan to bed, and basically do all the Logan lifting. :) And a few mornings of the week he didn't have to leave as early so he watched the boys while I took a shower and got ready for the day, even though we still don't do much during the day. I have to say that "Cars" is my favorite movie and thing in the world right now. Logan will actually sit through the entire thing.....(yes sadly, I think we watched it almost every day this past week, but that was the only time I could really lay down or sit down and relax a little to recuperate). I also love naps and will be so sad when Logan stops taking them. When he goes down for a nap, I turn off the phones and go lay down myself--which, if you know me has actually been quite hard to do, I'm always thinking of a million other things I could be getting done while the boys are sleeping, but I think it has made a world of difference in the speed of recovery, I'm almost feeling 100%
Anyway, nothing too exciting has happened, but we did manage to get in a few pictures this week....it really is a whole lot harder to take pictures of your second, not because you don't want to, but because when the opportunity comes, you're usually running around with the older one or preventing him from getting in the toilet and other things like that. :)
I couldn't resist this picture, I think we have one almost identical with Logan posed the same way in his sleep. They're definitely brothers.
Morgan got home early one day during "family nap time" sometimes Damon will sleep longer and less restless when he's right next to me in bed.
I was getting ready one morning while Logan was watching "Cars" and he just looked so cozy and comfy and sleepy, he had just woken up, but I still had to feed Damon before I could get Logan ready. I'm not sure what the deal was with the camera on the second photo, but I think it shows a little more relaxation. :)
Just like his brother, Damon doesn't like his arms to be bundled sometimes and loves to hold on to things or just each other. Just look at that sweet little baby boy.
And lastly, Morgan was able to capture a little smile on the camera. He smiles almost every time Logan is around him and babbling. As much as I love him being a little baby, I can't wait for him to grow up a little more so the boys can play together. We have truly been blessed with two special little boys and I can't imagine it being any other way right now. :) Until next time.....

The Moment We've All Been Waiting For

September 14th - 21st
Wow, we have two little boys now. How exciting! It’s hard to think that he’s already here and also that it has taken so long for him to get here if that makes any sense at all. Well, since you’ve already seen some of the first pictures I guess I should tell you a little about the actual birth experience. Get ready for a long post!

We left the house around 7:00am in the morning. It was me, Morgan, Logan, & my mom. Of course nothing can go perfect and as we are turning down a street a car comes out of nowhere, so we have to back up a little bit after putting on the brakes and end up backing into a car. A big ol’ Oklahoman gets out of the car and I’m thinking, please don’t deck my husband we’re on the way to the hospital to have a baby. Luckily nothing happened to either car and the guy was really nice, but it sure woke us all up.

We got the hospital and got checked in and were settled in our mansion of a room…seriously, the rooms were as big or bigger than a hotel room, it was awesome. They monitored the baby for about an hour before doing anything. I’d actually been having quite a few contractions before and we found out that I was actually already to a 3 (moms and dads will understand what I mean). We started the pitocin and got things going. The contractions didn’t start getting too painful until about 11:00am, so we got the epidural. This was a perfect epidural I could actually still wiggle my toes and move my legs, with Logan I was completely numb and you’d think that would be better, but it was actually more uncomfortable…anyway. About 1:00pm the doctor came in and broke my water and we thought things would go really fast after that like they did with Logan when I finally reached a 4 (I was around a 5 when he broke my water).

Damon decided to take his precious time though. It was about 4:00pm when the nurse got the doctor in and we started pushing. Morgan got to catch the baby, you already saw that picture. At exactly 4:17pm Damon was born. I decided that I’d rather spend the hours going through contractions than pushing and feel pretty lucky about that. I only had to push for about 30 minutes with Logan, and what a whole 4 times or so in 17 minutes to pop Damon out.
We had an awesome nurse and it was a nice clean labor and delivery. Morgan and I really couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience. We were all for the most part calm and relaxed the whole time we were there. We watched a few movies. Logan ran around the room and did a great job. He was even there when Damon was born, he was just waking up from a nap and Grandma was holding him.

On Tuesday I got to relax and spend the day in the hospital with Damon. Logan got to spend the day with Grandma at home and Morgan got to spend the day at school. It was actually really nice to spend a little one on one with the new baby, knowing that once we got home that probably won't happen very often. We got all the tests taken and done and you know from my last post that I decided to come home a little early to spend more time at home figuring things out.

Logan has been perfect. He is the best big brother and hasn't been jealous at all. He's been so good to be a little more independent when he plays, he'll hand me diapers and when the baby is crying he lets me know and say "baby, baby" He loves to give "Baby Day Day" kisses and loves and has been really soft and gentle with him so far.

Damon has been a perfect baby too. He hardly fusses or whines and has been a great eater. We took him to the doctor a couple days after he was born and she said he was beautiful and as perfect as can be. Morgan and I truly have been blessed with two sweet spirits in our home.

The overall recovery has been better and faster than the first, although, that being said, I find myself trying to do a little too much too soon and end up paying for it later....especially when I forget to take the pain medication, we've had several rough hours since I got home, but I think we're going to be okay. I don't think we could have done it without my mom being here to help out though, we sure miss you grandma, thanks again for coming out and taking care of us. :)

Well, I guess I better finish up this post by putting up some more picture of the cutest little boys in the whole world!Damon looks exactly like his daddy when he was a baby, but in this picture he looks almost exactly like Logan.

Damon has been such a content little boy, just like his big brother was.

And his big brother loves him soooo much!

Damon is smiling that picture even though it looks like he's crying. He sure loves his big brother.

Grandma says: "ooooh, big stretch"How can you not fall in love with that sweet little face?
Morgan is such a good daddy to his boys. We are going to have so much fun with them. It's going to be hard sometimes and the rewards may not come as soon as we want, but it will definitely be all worth it.We love you all and have felt your prayers with us during this time and want to say thank you to everyone who has helped us. We are so thrilled with our growing family. So, until next time.....

Quick Pics

September 16th, 2008

Well, Damon is 24 hours old....well I guess 27 hours old now and we're home so here are some quick pics of the newest addition to the family. I'll finish the last post and do another one Sunday though and tell more about the birth, but I'm battling the smell of fresh cinammon rolls to hurry and get some pictures of this beautiful baby boy up! :)

The Doctor let Morgan catch Damon. He did a great job! (yep, I took that picture too)Damon Jeremiah 7lbs 11ounces 21inches and cute as can be!

He had a few scratches from his fingernails, but he's got rosy cheeks like his brother.

We made it home safe and sound."Thank Heaven for little boys!"

All my boys! I love them sooooo much!!!!!!!!

Logan is going to be such a good big brother. He went for the baby before he even gave his momma kisses when we got home. :)

...unfinished...okay, finished. :)

September 7th - 14th

I've been trying to stay busy to keep my mind occupied on something other than a very soon delivery of our second child, but even as busy as we stayed, I still had enough time to grow impatient and anxious....this test of patience is good for me though. :)

We took a few pictures and videos this week, but next week will be even better when we'll have pictures and videos of our newer, bigger, and better family. Logan is at that stage where he doesn't like his clothes on and is always trying to take them off, luckily, he's really not quite figured it out, but when he gets whiny enough I'll at least take his shirt off. I did that day and he tried for a long time to get his pants and diaper off, but all he got was a plumber's crack, it was too darn cute not to take a picture.

He's been eating more like a big boy lately and I've been letting him work on the spoon more. He's really good with a fork and sort of treats the spoon like a fork and makes a big mess, so I've avoided it until now, but I'm realizing that the more independent he is with snacks and eating, the easier it will be with two. Here is just chillin' in his chair chowing on, I think pudding. He does pretty good with pudding and yogurt since they stick to the spoon a little better. He also loves giving kisses, kisses, and more kisses.

We found these shades in the stroller that we bought second-hand, I keep forgetting to ask my friend that picked it up for me if they are hers...well, her little boy's. :) They've been in the car and he always tries to put them on, and the other day after errands he wouldn't leave them in the car, so we brough them in and I helped him put them on, I think he looks pretty studdly.

Sometimes the most random things will make him laugh, we caught the next few videos a little after the climax of his laughter, but you get the idea.

My mom finally got here on Saturday, luckily missing any of the storm, we've been anxiously awaiting her arrival all week. My mom will be staying with us for a week to help with the babies and help me figure out how in the world I'm supposed to handle two at a time. My dad wasn't able to make it out like we planned :( it seemed the whole world decided to converge on Oklahoma City this week. I'm sure it was due to a lot of re-routed flights from the storm, he'll just have to be patient and see him a little later.

...anyway, this post is still unfinished, but it's late Sunday night right now and I'm going to have a BABY TOMORROW!!!! So, I'll probably finish this mid-week and add another with some pictures of the newest addition to our family.....so until then...okay, I'm done now as much as I can with this post.

Now what are we going to do NEXT week?

Week 57: August 31st - September 7th

YAY for Labor Day! Only one week of school and we already got a day off. We went to the Arts
Festival and they had a kid's tent and Logan got to play in the sand and build sandcastles with daddy. It was really fun. As we were strolling along with our new double stroller which Logan absolutely loves, (we found a great deal - thanks Ashley!!!!) we saw a booth with an artist doing caricatures. After seeing him draw one we thought it would be fun to have one of Logan, here is a picture of the picture.
I think it turned out pretty good. The funny thing to me was that when he was drawing it I could see features of my brothers when they were little, I guess our little boy does have quite a bit of Goodman in him.
This week I've been in ultra-nesting mode. I've been cleaning and re-organizing and trying to get the boys' room ready (hehe, I love that, the boys' room) and sorting through all the old baby clothes and trying to make them all fit. Morgan just smiles and lets me do my thing. I finally finished Damon's blanket that I've been crocheting ever since I found out I was pregnant. My nesting pretty much consumed the rest of Monday and Tuesday, I'm getting burned out pretty fast, so I'm taking it a little bit slower for the next week or so.

So, last week on Sunday night Logan totally biffed it out of his bed in the middle of the night. He really rubbed his nose the wrong way. This is day one of the pictures, it still just looks like road rash, but as it scabbed it looked like he had a little mustache and permanent dirt on his nose.
He fell out again on Monday and Tuesday night, but landed on his knees, so it wasn't so traumatic, but now I think he's figured it out and hasn't had any accidents since then. He reminds me so much of myself when I was that little and trying to go to sleep, I was always really squirmy and ended up in the weirdest positions. He is going to bed sooo well, he doesn't cry at all for naptime or bedtime and is basically sleeping through the night....now, if only I could. :)

Me and Logan try to stay busy so we don't get cabin fever and it takes my mind of how soon we'll be having another baby. On Wednesday we went to the library reading time and met up with some friends, afterwards we came back and made homemade pizzas with the leftovers from our primary activity. It was great, we let the kids play until they were so exhausted that they all fell asleep on their way home while Logan fell asleep as they were leaving. (sorry no pictures...I temporarily missplaced the camera).

Later that night Nola & Brayden and Logan & I went out for ice cream while our husbands were at YM's. We'll be able to continue that tradition for at least one more week before Damon comes. On Thursday I had a Dr. Appointment, everything looks good and we're on track. Logan got to play with his friends again and cried when I came and took him home, luckily he finally fell asleep as we pulled in the driveway and took a nice long nap because I was exhausted.

On Friday the weather here was so beautiful that we went to the park in the morning and met up with friends again. I love my friends here. (You know who you are, I just don't type names in case that sort of stuff on a blog makes you nervous). Logan played for about an hour and half while I chatted with other moms there. We took his soccer ball and "shared" with some of the older kids and actually did pretty good until he got tired, then he was just a cranky walking zombie, so we headed home and to my surprise he didn't actually fall asleep so we got lunch ready and about an hour later he was out like a light!

Morgan got home early, so we decided to go to another park, but they were doing construction, so we just went home. He trimmed our hedges and we found a little injured bird in our bushes, he was gone the next day, so I hope the stray cats didn't get him.

Morgan is such a wonderful husband. He takes good care of our house and thinks of things to make it look and feel better, specifically with yardwork.

On Saturday I had a wonderful Baby Sprinkle (baby shower). It was so much fun, thanks again to everyone who came and those who put it all together. I really feel so blessed to have found such great friends here in Oklahoma and in our ward. We got a great supply of diapers wipes and Damon even got a few new outfits of his own along with some great toys, blankets and bath supplies.

And now, since the lack of pictures, I have for your viewing pleasure in bearing with this long post (see what happens when I don't work as much, I get so long-winded---or would you call that long-typed?).

This is Logan playing hide and seek. He was ducking for cover for about 10 minutes and having a blast, but of course when we pull the camera out he gets a little distracted.

Logan really likes brushing his teeth too, whenever we are in there brushing ours he likes to brush his, he's getting better too. Maybe there will be better hope for his teeth than mine. (sorry about that again mom, dental visits sure add up quick!)

And finally, Logan's kissy face has returned. He's such a ham. He's such a wonderful boy and gives his kisses freely. Sorry about the quality of the video, but I did get some good kissy face pictures to end with, that camera can just be so distracting.

Look at that little cutie pie. He's going to be such a great big brother, I can hardly wait for him to meet Damon. He gives the "baby" kisses all the time on my tummy.

Kinda blurry, but here's a kiss for you too!

...and still, it gets better!

Week 56: August 24th - August 31st

The beginning of this week started out pretty good. Morgan started his classes and he taught his first lecture. Me and Logan get to spend a lot more time together. I think we're going to be able to handle this semester....that spoken, we still only have one baby. :)

I can tell that Logan already misses his daddy though, on Wednesday when Morgan was leaving for work, Logan just kept crying by the door, it was tragic. On a lighter note though, this week we made some good progress with sleeping and naptime. He hasn't been crying when I close the door for naptime or bedtime and if he does it's only for about 5 minutes and at least he stays in his bed. We gave him the binky back, but usually by the time he falls asleep it's gone anyway, but if it helps him sleep now and lets us sleep a little bit more before Damon comes along, I'll take it. We'll deal with the binky later.

Oh yeah, great news this week for us. We sold our townhouse in Lehi...again...sort of. :) We're doing another lease-option, but this time it's only for a year, so at least we'll have renters for a year if nothing else, but we both feel really good about the couple that's moving in and I really think that things will go through just fine and we'll soon be rid of the burden, and at least it's quite a bit lighter to bear. Morgan and I will both testify of the blessings that have come into our lives since we have been consistently having Family Home Evening and making more of an effort in our scripture studies and strengthening our home and family. The Lord is and will bless your lives if you strive to do what he asks. Just a quick side note that I can't pass up. As soon as we got the details for the house all figured out, it was just me and Logan so I said, "Logan, I think we need to say a prayer" and you know what, that little boy got down on his knees and folded his arms, it just melted my heart, he even almost made it through the entire prayer. I don't know how we got blessed with such a sweet little boy, but I can't imagine life without him now and we feel just as blessed to be having another one in just a couple weeks.

I have to relay a quick story about one of the things I love about Oklahoma. The people here are so friendly and willing to lend a hand...and not just members of our ward, but complete strangers. On Friday I was at the post office with Logan and ton of stuff I had to send to Utah to my work, Logan was being pretty squirmy and I'm ready to have a baby in 2 weeks and very awkward, needless to say it was quite easy to tell I was struggling a bit trying to hold on to everything while packing the boxes. Then, just out of the blue a lady asked if she could help, I said sure, so she helped me pick out a box, and while I was addressing everything (before packing) she was getting her mail done and just as she was about to leave, she turned around and came back to help me stuff everything in the box (it was quite the challenge actually) and helped me get it all taped up and ready to go. I have no idea who she was we didn't really even introduce ourselves, but I definitely count that as a blessing and such a simple one that probably often goes un-noticed by me most of the time. It made me want to be more aware of others around me and how I can help them in little ways like that.

On Saturday I was in charge of a Primary Pizza Party. We've been planning it for a couple weeks now and it actually turned out really well I thought. We didn't have a ton of leftovers and I think the kids all had a great time and we had a good showing. It was fun, but I'm also glad that it's over and now I can focus more on just getting ready for the baby to come. Although, it was nice to have a little distraction to keep me from getting so anxious about the baby. Good thing I still have a couple more weeks of work to keep my mind off it and help the time pass by faster.....then of course I would mind if time just stood still for a while. :)

So, when I was checking for pictures/videos this week on our camera, this was about all I found. We must have been busy with the first week of school or something like that ;) Logan found a new game with our Yahtzee Turbo. He was laughing hysterically for about 10 minutes before we decided to get the camera and of course, they always stop when they know they're being caught on camera. You get the idea though.......I'm still waiting for the batteries to die. :) Until next time......

Can it get any better?

Week 55: August 17th - 24th

Oh what a week, where do I begin...Logan is always a good place to start. It's been raining here for the first part of the week, but that has made the weather cooler, so Logan and I still ran our errands in the rain and on Monday as we were coming out of the Dollar Store he ran right for the biggest puddle before I could catch him and you should have seen the look on his face, I imagine that's what his face will look like the first time he understands Christmas. Well, I couldn't help so we splashed in all the puddles all the way to the car and by the time we got there both our pant legs, shoes and socks were soaking wet, but it was a blast, it's been a long time since I've jumped in rain puddles.

This week we tried to get rid of the binky. He's only been using it for sleeping and nap time, so I didn't really think it would be that big of a deal...boy was I wrong. I wish it were back to the days when he just had no interest, but we kind of pushed it on him to help him sleep through the night, and now we're feeling the effects of that. The first night we tried to put him down, I think I had to sit by his bed for almost two hours, he just kept sobbing and crying at the top of his lungs and trying to get out of the bed and now suddenly he HATES that I close the door when I put him down for the naptime too, it sounds like I'm torturing him. Anyway, after a couple days of this horrendous crying, Morgan pulled out his cot and put it up in his room and Logan will go right to sleep with Daddy sleeping there by him...but not me, he screams for Daddy, at least at nap time, but at least when he wakes up he gives me great big kisses. :) We're hanging in there and hopefully it will get better. Morgan has been so good to take turns with me helping him go to sleep so that I can get some rest even though he has to get up early too and go to work. By the end of the week we succumbed to giving the binky again though, so hopefully that will help. This week is going to be rough though since we're going to be doing a little more of the cry it out....we only have 3 weeks before another baby will be keeping us up at night. :) He did end up on cot one time during his nap during the week, I think he was missing his daddy at work. And now the topic of this blog. Morgan is the best husband in the whole world. This week has been a little rough, I haven't been feeling well and it's been one of those weeks where I'm SO ready to have this baby and one day he came home with roses, just out of the blue, it was so nice. And then on another morning after being up late with Logan he downloaded some awesome songs on i-tunes and left me a cute little note so I would find them and it totally made my day! It's those little things that he thinks of to do that make him so wonderful. He's working so hard in school and I'm so proud of him and it makes me want to be a better wife and mom so he doesn't have to worry so much...even though sometimes I'm so pregnantly emotional, he still puts up with me and loves me no matter what.
This weekend was also our last "event" so to speak before school starts for him, so we called some friends to go to a baseball game again since we had such a good time last time. This time it was about ten times hotter though and we did a lot more walking and waiting and I think it's the first time I can actually say that I got a little swollen from the pregnancy...you'll see in the pictures, I look like I just got my wisdom teeth out. :) It was really fun though. We had to wait about 30 minutes in line to get tickets and while we were waiting, this nice lady came up to us and asked us how many tickets we needed, we said 4 (we also had the 3 kids with us, but they're free still). She had three and wanted to know if we were interested and we asked how much, and she just handed over the 3 tickets that said they're free, Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday. It was great, we only had to buy 1 ticket between the 4 of us now! The game was a little slow, but hey had fireworks after. It was a pretty good show, unfortunately by that time it was so hot and late that Logan slept through the whole fireworks show. We still had such a great time and glad we had some friends with us.

We stripped Logan down to just his pants and rolled those up, but it was still hot and sticky. Gotta love the humidity....oiy!

An now for your viewing pleasure, some of the things we learned at the zoo last week. :)

Wish us luck with the first week of the new school schedule. :)

What Does a Lion Say?

Week 54: August 10th - 17th

A few exciting things have happened this week. First, I learned how to make a really cool adjustable sling that I think is going to come in really handy when I finally have Damon. I'll be able to hold the baby and still have my hands free to play with Logan. Morgan can even use it. We tested it out and with Logan and it works quite nicely. I think I have found a rekindled enthusiasm for my sewing hobby this week. I also made a whole bunch of different colored drawstring bags to put different sets of Logan's toys in. He loves taking everything out of the bags and he's even starting to help us clean up a little bit.
Next is our progress on the toddler bed. Logan has not slept in his crib for an entire week now. We had a couple rough nights where I spent a couple hours by his bedside keeping him calm and another night with Morgan ending up in the recliner with him, but I think he's starting to get used to it. We've had more good nights than bad and he doesn't climb out and wander in the middle of the night. I think he's actually afraid of the dark a little, so this week I'm going to try and nightlight and see if that helps him sleep a little better. Usually for naptime and falling asleep I have to close the door so he can't get out and since we keep the toys in the ottoman in the living room, he found other things to play with until he finally crashed against the door. (I had to squeeze my arm around and move him until I could get in, then I put him in his bed and took pictures of the damage).
And most exciting of all.....we went to the zoo! It was our first zoo experience as a family and it was actually really fun. It got a little hot, but there was just enough breeze to cool you down every once in a while, since after about 10 seconds you were drenched in sweat and humidity anyway. :) We got to see all sorts of animals. Logan loved watching the chimpanzees swing around and made his little chimp sound, but the never fail sound is the lion. At any point we can say, What does a lion say? and he'll answer with a roar. He knows what a duck, dog, monkey, lion, & elephant say, but sometimes they all end up sounding like a lion. :) He is such a fun boy, here's just a few pictures. The only downer of the zoo trip was the lack of elephants, they were currently in Tulsa mating, but the zookeeper promised that they would be back with the baby elephants, so we'll have to go again when the elephants return. They're my favorite and I think Logan would have liked them too.
The rest of the week we just got to spend time together since it's the last week before Morgan's schedule gets busy. He was able to pick up work shifts Mon-Fri next week and then the week after that he starts school and his class/clinical/teaching schedule basically make it like he will be working a full-time job. This next year is going to go by so fast and we're already starting to dream of all the possibilities and opportunities the future will hold, but most importantly, being done with school!!!!!.....well, that probably comes second to having our baby. :)
We also got to go to a really good baptism on Saturday of one of our primary kids, and then we went to a birthday party for Brayden, and Gary and some of his kids. It was fun to hang out and see everyone and eat some delicious hamburgers. It was a good week! Hopefully this next one will be just as good.
