Goodman Family Fun

What an awesome week! I have quite a few pictures too, so this ought to be a fun post. We had some free meals at KFC an so we went there a couple times this week and let me tell you Damon LOVES the macaroni and cheese. He actually loves just abut any food, especially if it's from your plate, but he devoured this. And you can tell he was pretty happy about it.
It sure does make a mess though. I love his little teeth. He has 6 right now, 4 on top and 2 on bottom, but I'm thinking he's getting ready to bust a couple more out. :)

Damon and Logan love to play in the laundry baskets when I'm doing laundry.

Damon had pushed this into the kitchen and I was trying to unload the dishwasher and he kept trying "help" me, so I put him in the hamper and Logan climbed in with him. It was great.

Despite the fact that it looks like Logan is going to take a bite out of Damon's nose, he was really giving him great big kisses.
We had the Goodman Family Reunion this weekend, so on Thursday night my brother Steve and his wife Kim and kids Kashlynn and Harlee came up along with my parents to stay with us until the reunion. We went to the zoo on Friday and we had a blast. We started off with a little train ride.

This is Damon and Harlee chillin' while we're watching the elephant show. Damon didn't like to be sitting still for very long, so I ended up holding him for the show.

Logan is getting ready to see the elephants. My mom was so excited to come to the zoo with us, but she got sick and had to stay back at the hotel room and try to recuperate. We missed grandma, but we tried to take lots of fun pictures for her.

This is Dari, the oldest elephant at the zoo, and I think they might have said the oldest at any zoo. She is 49 and the average elephant age is about 42.

This is Logan getting ready for the bird show, which was soooo cool. If you go to Hogle Zoo, go see the bird show, it's so worth it.

Damon did pretty well too, he was a little squirmy waiting for the bird show, but I think he had fun once it started.

Logan and Kashlynn posing with the gorilla.

Don't mind my husband, he thinks he's raising Tarzan I guess. Damon wasn't fooled though, he knows his real mama. :)

Logan loved the giraffes. I think that was probably his favorite part.

I love that big grin of his.
Things were winding down after lunch and few visits, so we decided to hit the carousel before we went back home to do some swimming.

Steve and Kashlynn on the polar bear.

Morgan and Logan on the lion. Damon and Harlee were too tired for the carousel. We got home from the zoo and were hoping the kids would sleep longer, but no. So, we suited up and headed to our pool. It was really nice weather for swimming and we were there for probably a good 45 minutes or so, which is about all that Logan can handle anyway. I forgot the camera, so I don't have any pictures from that. But we sure had a fun-filled Friday.

On Saturday we headed up to Heber for the annual Goodman Family Reunion. We have several unicyclers in the family, Kim, my dad, Dustin, my Uncle Glen, and probably more that I'm not aware of. It was fun to watch them all.
We had a huge bounce house up there. Logan had fun, and Damon really loved it. Neither of them are in this picture, but they both had a blast.

We also had a huge inflatable slide. Morgan took Logan on it a couple times, but the water was cold that Logan didn't like it, especially when Morgan "let" Logan go by himself. He was pretty clingy after that. The water slide was great though. Morgan went down and where the two pieces of the slide connect he disappeared under the tarp and you couldn't tell where he was, it was a hoot.

This is my brother Mike taking his son Lincoln up. Lincoln actually really liked the water slide. He went on it several times.
More unicycling. This is my dad getting ready to go again.

And he's up! We all had such a great time at the reunion. This was a really jam-packed, fun-filled weekend.

This is a cute video of Logan and Kashlynn jumping all over. My parents got here before Kim and Steve and had brought Kash with them. I kept Logan awake because I knew he would want to play. You wouldn't think it, but he was almost asleep before they got there. The two of them sure had a ton of fun this weekend! Until next time....

Timpanogos Caves

This week was filled with lots of fun and some pretty good pictures, so I'll let them tell the story. This is how Damon likes to watch TV. Unfortunately he is a TV Junkie and will watch anything, while we were so ecstatic when Logan would finally sit through Cars. He's always on the go though, walking back and forth in front of the TV.

I can't resist his cute little face.

This is Logan at our swimming pool. We've been trying to go more often to get out of the house and just to have some fun. Logan is so dang skinny though that he's always freezing within a few minutes, even if it's really hot outside. He can float by himself for a while when he has his arm floaties on too, but he gets nervous and starts reaching for me saying, mommy mommy, mommy, that's really the only time he even calls me mommy, it's usually momma.

Damon loves the water and still has an extra layer of fat to keep him warm. :) He's really content to just play with a few toys and kick around in the floaties, which is nice because then I can handle taking them to the pool by myself.

This is just random of Logan. I think he's hitting that phase where he likes to "dress up" He puts stuff on his head and calls anything a hat and lately he's been putting my shoes on too. :)

I baked my very first pie ever, it was a scrumptious apple pie and it turned out sooo good. I made another one for Morgan's work, I hope it's as good as the first one. It was really fun to have another little success in the kitchen. :) It's keeps me motivated to try new things.

My boys, just enjoying a snack while I'm cleaning up my mess in the kitchen after breakfast one day.

Damon is stealing Logan's graham cracker. Most the time Logan is actually really nice to share, which is great, except when he tried to give Damon a whole grape...not so great, good thing I was right there when he was trying to give it to him.

I sure love my cute boys!

This weekend we got to go to the Timpanogos Caves. It was soooo awesome!!! We are going to make it at least a yearly tradition.

It was really nice to have both kids in the packs, although we did underestimate the steepness of the hike to the caves, but we both still made it.

I had to give Damon my Camelbak straw so he would stop grabbing at my hair. :)

Logan had a good time, but I think Damon enjoyed it more overall. Logan really wanted to get down and run around.

Damon was resting his head on mine for a lot of the hike, it was really cute.

At the top we had to wait a while until our actual tour time, so the kids got to run around a little bit. You can't take the big backpacks with you, so we did have to carry the kids a little ways up.

This was a cool stalactite.

There are several little pools of water in the caves...the pictures totally don't do it justice.

Me and Damon in the caves.

The heart of Mt. Timpanogos. The guide told us a really cool story, but I don't remember all the details, so I'll have to look it up again.

Our family picture in the caves.

Logan has had an increased appetite for books lately...which is great, because I'm re-reading the Twilight Series right now, so one day we spent a good half and hour reading books on the couch while Damon was sleeping. Logan just kept getting more books and "reading" them out loud, I should have gotten some video of that.

I hope he keeps that love of reading as he is really learning to read. :)

Damon really likes books too. These are some of my favorite times and make me extra grateful for my husband who loves to read books and spend time with our kids. I love you Morgan!! Well, I think that's about it. Until next time....

Happy 4th of July

What another crazy week. We already logged some of it on our last post, so I'll just catch up from there. I'll start with the worst first and end on a happy note. Getting teeth pulled sucks! I hope I never have to have another tooth pulled. It was pretty terrible the first couple days, but it is getting better and I think healing pretty nicely.
We took some fun videos of the boys this week, here are just a few of them:

This is Logan's new game, "Running so Fast." This is also proof that my child does literally bounce off the walls. He'll do this throughout the whole house.

We taught Logan more of the "Blue Shadow" song. I think it's adorable that he just breaks out in to songs now. It's been fun trying to teach him more of them.

This is Logan singing the ABC's and Jesus Wants me for a Sunbeam. I'm surprised at how quickly he is learning the songs and how well he remembers them.

Logan and Damon finally defeated the gate when we were painting. Painting the house is finally done by the way and I couldn't be happier. I think it turned out really well too, you can't really tell that we painted since we used the same colors, but it looks a whole lot nicer. The boys are really glad we're done painting too.

Logan loves being tossed in the air still. It's already July and we haven't really gone out to the part that much so this week after dinner we decided to hang out at the park. Our kids love being outside and love the park even better. Logan had a blast running around and hanging out with all the kids, I think there had to be at least 3 family reunions going on. Damon loved hanging out on the blanket munching on his graham crackers and just being outside. We decided that we need to do that more often, both kids were exhausted and went to bed really well that night. :)For the 4th of July we met up with some friends and had a little BBQ up Provo Canyon at Nunn's Park and then went to the Provo temple park to watch the Stadium of Fire fireworks show. We had a really fun time at the BBQ and the kids really loved being outside all day and playing. We left a little early from the fireworks thinking they were already over, but we were actually glad we did when we heard that people weren't getting home until 1:00am and we were all snug in our beds by 11:00. :)
Logan and Miles had a blast together. I wish I would have gotten pictures of them talking to each other or playing in the mud pile at the BBQ, but of course I forgot.
Damon just loves to stand up and get in to things. He is my wiggly and grabby baby. He definitely keeps me on my toes...well they both do :)

And since we're talking about Damon, here's a little video of him getting around and chasing the camera. Happy 4th of July. This year I have been particularly grateful for my country, my home, my family, and my freedoms.

LIfe without Internet

Where to begin? We've had some issues with internet and switched providers so we have been without for a while. I typed up this whole blog post, but for some reason I can't copy and paste, but here it is anyway, typed for the second time. This will definitely be a long post, but that's a good thing because that means we've been having lots of fun. On the home front we have had several people come and look at the house, but no offers yet. We both feel confident however that something turn up eventually. We have been doing some house repairs...sort of this week. It all started when we were going to do some touch up paining, but as we looked closer the walls were pretty beat up and we couldn't get the right color to match even when we took a sample of our wall in to color match, anyway, needless to say our entire house now has a new fresh coat of paint and I have to say it looks pretty good and I'm glad that we did it although it has been pretty stressful. We rented a huge ladder go get to the stairwell area and while we were at it, organ installed some blinds in our very top window that use to be bare, he's such a handyman, I sure love him! Okay so back to the beginning of the week...sort of, in particular Thursday of last week (this post goes from last Sunday21st -Sunday 28th) We had the Hadlock Family Reunion. It was really fun, we ended up being there a little late because we were also packing and getting ready for a weekend camping trip and we both had dentist appointment that morning. Morgan didn't have anything, but me, I get to have a dental implant :( It's a 3-part procedure that takes about a year and on Tuesday I had my tooth extracted (I like saying that better than pulled, it sounds more excruciating...because it was) then they fill the hole with some bone graft material and while they're at it, they'll patch up a couple fillings. That has to heal for about 4-6 months before parts 2 and 3. But of course other than that my teeth look great! Here are some reunion pictures:
So we get on the road to the reunion and get there and grab a bite to eat. We get to chat and visit and play. Logan had a blast! He loves being outside and playing with other kids. Damon had a great time too, so good it was torture trying to get him to take a nap. Then as things were winding down and we were getting ready to leave for the campground I noticed that Logan was not with the other cousins he's been following around all day. I start looking and then my gut sinks when I have to ask for help because I can't find him, so several of us start looking around and I see another cousin coming from the golf course adjacent to the park we were at, I just knew that Logan had to be with her, so we asked and as we're walking out onto the green you have to cross a little stream. We asked Erin if Logan was with her and her response was "oooh water." Oh great, my son is floating down a little golf course stream, but for some odd reason I'm not really panicking, just nervous, and feeling like a neglectful and incompetent parent. Then I hear, we found him. Apparently he was chasing the golf carts on the course and Morgan had jumped a 6 foot fence in a single bound...well maybe not quite, but at least he made it over. We got Logan and decided it was probably time to go.
We head up to the Smith and Morehouse reservoir and try to find a camp-site. IT was pretty slim pickings, everything ad already been reserved, but we do eventually find a place and get the camp set up just before it starts raining. And it rained and rained and rained ALL night, but being safe in our tent and surprisingly warm I actually enjoyed it. The boys slept pretty well, Damon ended up on the cot in my sleeping bag with me and Morgan ended up with Logan in his bag too.
The next day was really nice, at least to me. It kept going from hot to cold with a few sprinkles, but giving a nice variety. We went on a little hike (walk) across the dam, but then it got cold so we went back to get lunch ready. Logan loved playing with Josh and they would go for walks up and down the path the different campsites throughout the day and both Morgan and I realized that camping just isn't the same when you kids, it's still fun, but you spend the majority of your time making sure your child hasn't run off and gotten eaten by a bear than really sitting back and relaxing. :) It definitely made us appreciate all the camping our parents did with us as kids.

Later that evening it really started to pour again, the guys made a make-shift canopy over the picnic table. It only lasted about 30 minutes...the rain, not the canopy, but it was a real hard down pour. So, after that we started making some dinner and waited for our other friends to show up. They goth there and got the tents set up and we ate just before it started to rain again. I got the boys ready for bed while Morgan tried desperately to save the fire we finally got to build. The storm was supposed to clear out at 10:00, but it showed no signs of stopping and I said I would give it until 10:01. Well, just as the guys had given up hope and were cleaning up camp the storm broke and the starts came out and the fire was alive...and I was in bed...and it was 10:01...and I had a very full bladder. So I crept out of the tent and left the boys sleeping and all the adults got to sit around the fire and roast some marshmallows and chat for a bit...ahhhh camping as it should be :) It was really nice and I'm glad that I came back out of the tent for it.

The next morning we ate breakfast, packed up and came home. We hurried to get cleaned up and things put away in case someone wanted to see the house...did I mention that it's very stressful trying to keep the house immaculate with two little boys...well, it is. I will be very grateful when we sell out house.
This is just a random picture of the boys from the beginning of the week. Logan is the biggest copycat/parrot ever right now and he loves to copy what Damon does if we give Damon attention about it. Like standing up and biting the crib. :)

Overall it was a great week and weekend and we had fun camping and hope we get to do some more this summer. Until next time....here are some videos....

Damon showing off his mad crawling/climbing skills at the reunion.

Logan playing in the water at the reunion, that was his favorite part. He would fill up the cups and pour them out for hours on end. Good thing it was a nice warm day because he was drenched by the end of the reunion.

This is a little song that Logan has been learning. He is usually riding on Morgan's back like a horse, but the other day he started singing it. He knows a couple more lines to the song now so we'll have to get another update on that when I can. :)
