Oklahoma Week 16

November 18th - 24th

This week was full of firsts. Logan's first tooth finally popped through, then after a couple days and some hysterical crying the second one finally came through on the bottom. It was also Logan's first Thanksgiving. We forgot the camera, but we still had fun. We ended up going over to our aunt's house and it ended up being just the 6 of us: Morgan, Annie, Logan, and Gary, Nola, Brayden. It was actually quite a peaceful Thanksgiving and I'm sure it will probably be the last that will be that quiet (well we did have that bit of Logan's teething hysterics during our game after dinner). We did miss our families and hope that you all had wonderful Thanksgivings too and we'll celebrate together soon over Christmas! :) If you look really hard in the next picture you can kind of see his tooth...

...and then of course as soon as he realizes what we're trying to do he closes his mouth. He's so shy around the camera, and yet he's always such a ham.

As you can see he's getting so close to crawling, he is rolling all over the place and scoots around every now and again and I'm sure he'll get the hang of crawling soon enough...

...okay, so we still have to help him quite a bit. He can get his butt up in the air just fine, and he can do some awesome push-ups, he just needs to figure out how to do them at the same time...
Logan's favorite time of the day is playing with daddy, whether it's being tossed in the air or rolling around on the floor, he sure loves his daddy.

Sometimes though when he's rolling around we find him in the craziest places. His favorite place to get stuck is under the futon in the office, except when he can't figure out how to get back out.

Morgan had some time off this week, so we went to a movie with Nola and Brayden. We saw "Bee Movie" I liked it, Morgan didn't so much, he was a little disappointed there weren't more Seinfeld cameos. The babies did great. Logan likes hanging out with his cousin and can't wait for Christmas to hang out with the rest of them!
Logan loves to help with laundry and gets a kick out of playing with the laundry baskets. I decided to use that to my advantage, so now that he's rolling around and I'm trying to fold clothes on the bed, I just utilize my resources.
Now I don't have to worry about him rolling off the bed. haha :) It's starting to getting cold here in Oklahoma (which I love) so we've been making sure all his jackets fit. This is our favorite one so far.
Well, I think I've covered the major highlights of the week. Morgan and I gave talks in church today, it went well. I think I was the least nervous that I have ever been to give a talk...I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, needless to say, I'm glad it's over and I don't have to worry about it anymore. It's been a great week and it will be sad for us to go back to work and school this next week, we had so much fun. We are looking forward to Christmas and the wonderful adventures that await us then. So, until next week, keep smiling!

Laughter really IS the best medicine!

Oklahoma Adventures Week 15

November 11th - 17th

Well, my panic attack from last week has subsided and Logan is eating like a champ. It turns out that he just wanted to try something different. In a desperate attempt to get him to eat ANYTHING, I gave him a Cheerio...and he loved it! So from there we got some finger foods for him to munch on, and I slip in the spoon every now and again, and soon he was opening his mouth like a little bird wanting more. I guess when your baby is so predictable for so long, when he does something a little off pattern, it seems like a huge deal. Being a mom has sure taught me a lot!!!!

There he is, eating like a champ. (teehee) And of course saying, see mom, I'm fine, I'm not going to let myself starve.

This past week we've really been focusing more on the tummy time with Logan. He's actually starting to enjoy tummy time too. He pushes himself up, and now he's rolling all over the place. He'll be entertained for almost an hour on his tummy if he has enough toys in reach.

He loves his sports bath toys (the little teething blue bear is hiding the basketball, soccer ball, baseball, and football), although, he's not quite old enough to play with them in the tub, they keep him entertained for quite some time and hopefully it will make him want to crawl when they roll out of his reach.

Logan is doing really well at nap-time now, and going to bed, he's back to old self sleeping through the night. He wakes up occasionally, but usually soothes himself back to sleep within about 5 minutes. He loves sleeping on his side or his tummy, even when I put him to bed on his back. 9 times out of 10 when we go in to get him in the morning he's on his belly playing with his teddy bear.

Logan rolls over in his crib all the time and we'll find him in the farthest corner from where we set him down. He's rolling all over everywhere. Sometimes he gets stuck though, like when he rolls into the desk or the chair. :)

He just keeps rolling back and forth and can't quite figure out why he's not going anywhere anymore.

So this week we finally broke out the Nintendo Gamecube. It's been sitting in a box behind our door this whole time, we just haven't found a time to really play, but this week we decided to dust it off and give it a go. We played some Mariokart, Worms 3D, & Marioparty 7. Logan even got to join in the fun!
Well, I've run out of Logan pictures, so I guess I'll give you the quick update about me and Morgan. We celebrated Morgan's birthday on the 13th. I can't believe how fast time is flying by. As far as "home" we feel pretty settled in Oklahoma (not that we want to put down permanent roots or anything). Morgan is doing really well in school and we're counting down the days until this semester is over. We're both still working on our church calling and both feeling better and better about them. Morgan is starting to get to know the Young Men a little more and I really love working in the primary right now. The teachers love holding Logan when I'm up there teaching the music and he is a really good boy in primary. We have truly been blessed with our son.

Oklahoma Week 14

November 4th - 10th

This week has been quite interesting. We didn't take near as many pictures, but that's mostly due to the fact that both of us at one time or another were feeling a bit under the weather. The week started out alright and he was his normal self and even helped me get a bit of work done...even if I did catch him sleeping on the job. :)He's also been a really good eater...well until Wednesday, but I'll get to that later. We've been experimenting with all sorts of foods. I even let him go to town on a banana in his little muncher. We're getting really good at cleaning up messes and although you can't really see the banana, it's ALL over. He even managed to get some in his ears, hair, & pants.

We celebrated my birthday on Tuesday, unfortunately, Morgan got sick that day, he hardly ever gets sick, but when he does, it's usually pretty bad, luckily it was just a 24 hour bug and he was starting to feel better towards the evening. I still had a good birthday and got some new shoes and clothes. It seemed though, that today would be the start of a rough week. We took Logan in on Wednesday for his immunizations and checkup. He's now 27 1/2 inches long and 16 pounds although he feels like he's at least 25. :) He is growing and is a healthy boy. But man, did those shots take a toll on him this time. That little man would not sleep a wink that night unless we were holding him. Needless to say, he got some sleep, mommy didn't. It was a long night, but I have been greatly blessed that he is usually a good sleeper so it didn't make the night as unbearable. The next morning he was feeling a little bit better, but still not himself and needed lots of attention, and unfortunately, I caught whatever Morgan had, so I was feeling miserable all day and Morgan had to work that day and boy was I glad to see him when he got home from work, I was exhausted, so he took care of The Buddy for the rest of the evening.

That night Logan still had a hard time sleeping and in the middle of the night I finally gave in and tried to feed him, and he ate, and quietly went back to sleep, he really hadn't been eating much solid foods the last couple days and I figured it was because he wasn't feeling good from the shots, so feeding him made sense, but here's the thing, and mom's out there, I need your help, now even 4 days after his shots he seems to have NO interest in eating his solid foods. He won't open his mouth, but acts hungry. I don't know what to do! The doctor gave us the go ahead to move up to 2nd foods which I thought was great since he was going through about 3 containers of food, and now...nothing. He'll eat his biter biscuits and puts everything in his mouth unless it's a spoon with food on it. :( Is this just a phase? Any advice? Anyone? Anyone? .... Beuller?

Anyway, other than the eating, Logan was back to his cheerful self by Friday...well except nighttime, he's now waking up in the middle of the night hungry because he's not eating his solids. :( On a happier note though, I made my first pie ever...a pumpkin pie, 2 to be exact. We had a ward Thanksgiving Party and Morgan signed us up to bring pumpkin pies. He thought we would just buy them, but I really wanted to try my hand at pie making. I had to take the picture before I baked them just in case they didn't turn out...they did though thanks to pre-made frozen crusts, so I guess I cheated a little bit, but you have to start somewhere.

On Saturday I went grocery shopping and got Logan all sorts of wonderful foods, Morgan was even a little jealous at his selection, but still nothing, so we gave him a biter biscuit and he devoured it....well, I think most of it ended up on me and him.

He sure enjoyed it though. It's really sticky, so he ended up in the bath afterwards. He's still our little angel and we love him...even through this trying week and I'm sure it will get better, so we'll just keep plugging away and try to come up with something to get him to eat and sleep better. I really hope it was just because of the shots and that soon enough he'll be 100%. This is such a sweet picture to end on, he really is such an amazing blessing in our lives.

We'll be sure to take more pictures this coming week now that we're all feeling better. Until next time.....

Oklahoma Adventures Week 13

October 28th - November 3rd

This week has been filled lots of fun. And it started off with...a mess. :) We're still getting the hang of all the solid food and we were in the living room watching a show while I was feeding Logan and I wasn't paying attention and didn't have a good hold on the food container and SpLaT..peaches all over the carpet.

Logan of course played innocent...who me? He likes to have a variety of food and he's getting better and better at eating every day too.

Last week I had him in his bouncer play toy and there was a glare coming in from the outside window in the office and when he would move or bounce, so would the glare. He was fascinated by it and I was fascinated by him being fascinated. :)

So, Morgan's birthday is coming up on November 13th and ever since we moved..well even before then, he's been wanting to get a good hiking child carrier for when we go hiking...(I'm thinking when are we ever going to go hiking in Oklahoma, it barely has any hills)..but that was what he decided he really wanted for his birthday. So we bought an early birthday present for him because crazy as it sounds, we had plans to go for a little hike in a "canyon" in Oklahoma, I'll have more on that later, but here is The Buddy in the backpack, he wasn't too sure about it at first, but I think he got the hang of it.

"Okay Dad, I'm ready to go, where are the mountains?"

Our next adventure this week was Logan's first Halloween. We looked and looked for a cute costume for him, but in the end decided that we should just get a little outfit for him. So we got him a onesie with pants outfit and some bright orange pajamas, this way we get a little more use out of them instead of just one night. Next year we'll get a costume and maybe even do some trick-or-treating.

We were all ready for the trick or treaters and bought a ton of candy and ended up with only one knock on the door...sad, I know, but oh well, now we have lots of treats...actually that's not really a good thing. I can't wait until all the candy is gone. Morgan took a big bowl to work with him and Logan's been helping us eat some of it.

Although, I think we've all had a little too much junk food the past few weeks. Oiy!

We also had some visitors from Utah this week: my parents! YAY! It was so fun to have grandma and grandpa here to play with and we're so sad that they had to leave today, but we're definitely looking forward to visiting all our families over the Christmas holidays. We had a great time playing cards, watching movies, taking naps, and even eating out.

We even went hiking on Saturday and used the backpack for real. We took a little detour to the Hinton cemetery (thanks to bad directions from mapquest), but eventually found our way to Red Rock Canyon and it was beautiful. It actually made us feel like we were back in Utah a little bit..slightly..sort of...well at least there was elevation change in the canyon, and hiking, and red rocks, and rappelling, so it was a nice taste of the outdoors and we'll definitely be making more trips back there. It was exactly what we all needed to finish up our great weekend.Whoops, wrong backpack. There we go, much better! Mush daddy mush, yah, yah, forward march.

We even found some fun swings. This little guy is going to love the great outdoors, just like his mommy and daddy. We had a great time hiking and Logan loved it. We are very glad for that too because we like to get out and hike and play outside. I hope you all had a great week and a great Halloween and until next time...

...keep smiling.
